When reunification cannot happen, children need to be able to have a permanent home. With Children’s Way Fost/Adopt program, these children will no longer be moved from house to house and school to school, but will have a home they can always call their own. Licensed as a full service adoption agency, Children’s Way offers the permanency solution of adoption to families.

 

Resource Parents/Adoptive Parents continue to gain knowledge toward working with the children in their home, obtain emotional support from our professional social workers, and funds from the agency to help them raise their adopted child to the best of their ability.

HOW TO BECOME A RESOURCE / ADOPTIVE PARENT?

Your desire to provide a loving and nurturing environment along with your commitment to keep children healthy and safe are the first steps to becoming a foster or adoptive parent. Children's Way will conduct an initial screen, help you to obtain the required pre-approval training by offering Resource Family Preapproval Training at no cost to you and help you to complete the required application documentation.

Additionally, you will submit copies of your drivers license, First Aid/CPR certificates, health screen/TB, etc.

 

Once Children's Way receives your Live Scan clearance and completed application you will receive a Home Study. This will be arranged and you will receive a home inspection. There are no agency or home study fees for Adoptive parents who are adopting a child through Children’s Way, and Adoptive Parents will receive a monthly reimbursement to cover the child's expenses until the adoption is finalized. After the adoption is finalized, continued funding is provided to adoptive parents through AAP (Adoption Assistance Program) until the child reaches 18. All of the child's medical expenses are covered by Medi-Cal until the age of 18.
