UMHP is dedicated to bridging the gap between communities and the opportunities provided by the Los Angeles County's Anti-Racism, Diversity, and Inclusion (ARDI) Initiative. The UMHP team works with residents, organizations, and stakeholders to create and support place-based community partnerships.
UNDERSTANDING CSECY
Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children and Youth (CSECY) involves the exchange of sexual acts by minors for anything of value, including food, shelter, or money. It can include being bought or sold for sexual acts, photographs, videos, or online exploitation.
CSECY is a form of human trafficking, contributing to a billion-dollar industry globally. It is recognized as the world's second most profitable criminal enterprise, following drug trafficking.
WHO IS AT RISK?

Homelessness/runaway youth

Children with sexual abuse histories

Kids with history of violations (i.e., truancy, curfew violations or involvement with juvenile justice system)

There is a presence of an older “boyfriend” or adult who is controlling in the youth’s life

Youth has tattoos, brandings or markings

Signs of violence (i.e., cuts, bruises or burns on child’s body)

OUR APPROACH
Outreach & Engagement
We conduct outreach through community awareness campaigns, educational workshops, and support services to mitigate risk factors and prevent mental illness.
Community Capacity Building
UMHP partners with local organizations to develop programs and services that meet the unique needs of the communities we serve.
Referral & Linkage
We provide essential referrals for mental health, housing, food, clothing, and employment services to those in need.
Client Support Services
UMHP offers concrete supports such as food assistance, personal protective equipment, and other necessities to those affected by COVID-19 and other disasters.
